An In-Depth Look At The Latest Behavioral And Medical Therapies

Urinary leakage affects as much as half of the female population, yet many are too embarrassed to seek help. The average wait time before consulting a health professional is a staggering 6.5 years. You can see a detailed infographic on Stress Urinary Incontinence here.

Supported by extensive clinical research, the book shines the light on this urinary leakage and enlightens the reader about all available treatments.  It aims to educate women of all ages on the many causes of urinary leakage and the variety of treatment options available.  “It is high time for urinary incontinence to come out of the water closet. Now is the time to take charge of your condition and have control over your bladder for life,” says Rabin.

The book covers:

  • Female physiology
  • Principal urinary incontinence conditions
  • Neuromuscular, medical and surgical therapies for urinary incontinence
  • Finding a surgeon
  • Behavioural therapy for urinary leakage
  • How to seek advice and care

Stress urinary incontinence is one of the most common diagnoses, and the book devotes an entire chapter to definitions, triggers, sources and results, distinguishing between minimal, moderate, and severe forms of the urinary leakage and discussing a variety of treatment options for this condition.

One of the revolutionary new treatments not covered in the book is SRC Restore - compression shorts designed to treat Stage 1 and 2 Stress Urinary Leakage and Stage 1 Bladder and Uterine Prolapse. The compression garment works through the use of a patented Anatomical Support Panel, specifically the gusset panel, providing continuous even compression to the entire perineal area. This has been shown to help with symptoms of light stress urinary leakage and mild bladder and uterine prolapse. Continuous compression to the perineum has been said to activate pelvic floor muscles through a possible proprioceptive feedback loop. Activating pelvic floor muscles positively influences their strength and their ability to support bladder and uterine function.

The second most common form of incontinence is urge incontinence, a frequent sensation that urination is imminent and can't be postponed.  A chapter is devoted to discussing the causes and treatment options available.

Rabin, a nationally recognized authority on urogynaecology and female pelvic medicine, is an expert on managing chronic urinary leakage, an embarrassing and debilitating condition that afflicts millions of women.  The book considers the latest treatment options for each type of incontinence, including newer, minimally invasive surgeries and techniques to quiet an overactive bladder, in many cases without medication.

The book explores the different surgical options for both urge and stress urinary leakage. One of the most popular surgical treatments for stress urinary leakage is bladder neck injection, which involves injecting synthetic bulking agents into the wall of the uppermost part of the urethra.  This option is minimally invasive and valuable for women with Intrinsic sphincter deficiency (ISD).

Another form of treatment for stress urinary leakage is a sling procedure, in which a sling is passed under the urethra and attached to the connective tissue of the abdominal wall.  The sling supports the urethra and neck of the bladder with any increase of abdominal pressure, stabilizing the urethra, increasing pressure, and blocking urinary leakage.

SRC Restore on the other hand is a urinary leakage treatment that is as simple as wearing the shorts that produce great results. Our research conducted during the product development phase showed 70% of participants had a statistically significant improvement in their Urinary Incontinence Questionnaire score and their Quality of Life showed a statistically significant improvement by 37%. Here’s just what one happy customer had to say:

“After having five babies and suffering light bladder leakage, I was keen to give them a go. My lower back is supported and while wearing this garment I no longer need to wear a panty liner, for the leaks. It has given me the confidence to sign up for an exercise class with other mums, without the fear of wetting myself. I no longer fear coughing, sneezing, or laughing. It’s so nice to go out and know that I won’t have damp knickers, and I can just enjoy myself and get on with living my life. “
